Dylan started Kindergarten this past Monday. He is in Ms. French’s class, in the morning. So far, he is really enjoying his class and has made lots of new friends, that I get to hear about each day. On his first day, he did great and no tears were shed (by either of us) and I think I was more hesitant than he was. I’m very proud of him!
The other night we tried our perogi maker. We got very creative, to say the least. We stuffed them with ham and cheese, cinnamon roll stuff, peanut butter and jelly, cookie dough, a Reese’s cup, chicken enchilada soup (drained), smores stuff, and soggy cereal (that was Nathan’s idea). We learned a few things; we need to roll the dough thinner, and not put so much stuff in them. Most of them were good, some very messy, but we had a good time!
Here comes Avery. On Monday Avery started preschool. She is attending Miss Karen’s Preschool, just like Dylan did. She was super excited to go and has loved her first two days. She insisted on making her silly face for a first day of school picture, too. This is her new thing lately. She attends for 2.5 hours M, W and F.
Last week I was in California helping my sister after her back surgery. Sharon, Nathan’s mom, came up for the week and watched the kids so that Nathan wouldn’t have to take off work. It was a great blessing to all of us and the kids loved having her here. Bob, Nathan’s dad, came up a little later in the week to visit as well. Here’s a few things they did while I was gone.

This series had me interested within the first 5 pages and kept me hooked the whole time. I enjoyed that the story was alive the entire time and kept turning in not so predicable ways. When I finished each book, I couldn’t wait to start reading the next! None of the books disappointed me. Each was strong and very well written.
Nathan and Dylan were not able to attend the stake Father/Son campout. So, they camped in the backyard. Dylan had lots of fun spending time with his daddy.
I made some Tex-Mex food in the Sun Oven. It turned out quite tasty!
While I was vacuuming my car one day, Avery decided to fall asleep in her car seat, covered with the floor mats. I cannot figure out why she chose to do this. It was already over 85 degrees outside.
Recently, Avery was mad because she wasn’t allowed to have a treat because she didn’t eat her dinner. So, she went and sat on the rug by the front door. We checked on her about 10 minutes later and she was sound asleep.
Last night we went to a Bees game. The kids did okay. They loved Bumble, the mascot, and when the crowd did the wave. We stayed for 4 innings and that was more than plenty.
This month we reviewed Same Kind of Different as Me. This is the true story of Ron Hall and Denver Moore as told by each of them, switching back and forth between the point of view of a white man (Hall) with a pretty common upbringing who eventually became very wealthy and a black man (Moore) raised as basically a slave, who eventually found what he described as a better life, being homeless… but free. These men are brought together by a woman of great strength and faith.
