Trick-or-Treat

Trick-or-Treating this year was a lot of work, but the kids had fun.  It was raining and very cold, so we drove the kids around to about 10 houses in our ward and called it good.  It is currently 8:30 and we have had 2, yes two, families of Trick-or-Treaters come to our house, and they were both friends who drove over specifically to our house.  We have a lot of left over candy!

The Witches at Gardener Village

Today the kids and I went to see all of the fun witches the village puts out for decoration during Halloween.  They weren’t in the best of moods (the kids, that is), so cooperating for pictures and general happiness to be outside did not come easy.  The happiest they were was when I let them throw snow into the walking path.  We ended our rather short visit with cookies and milk from the Naborhood Bakery.

Primary Class Halloween Party

There was much fun to be had at our class Halloween party.  The kids actually earned this one by bringing their scriptures, being reverent in class, participating during singing, sharing what the lesson was about with their family, remembering what the prior week’s lesson was about, etc., etc.  They did a great job and deserved a fun time, which I think they had.  They love to have Nerf gun wars while they are here and I appreciate that they always include Dylan and Avery in them.  We also decorated Halloween sugar cookies and took them to the Primary presidency!

Oops, My Mistake

I always show the kids each new post on our blog.  When Dylan saw the post for his Preschool program, he was bothered that I forgot to include the picture with Miss Karen.  My apologies to Dylan and Miss Karen!

2010 Costumes

This year Dylan chose to be Darth Vader for Halloween and I chose for Avery to be a pirate princess.  Yes, I made that costume up, but the outfit is so darn cute!

First Snow

Monday morning we woke to our first snow.  The night had offered a lot of wind and rain, which woke both Avery and I around 1:30 a.m., but we were surprised when this is what we found in the morning.  The kids were so excited!  The picture was taken around 7 a.m.

Preschool Halloween Program

Yesterday, Dylan’s preschool had their Halloween program.  It was absolutely adorable and as a first time preschool mom, I got a little tear.  I can’t believe how fast Dylan is growing up and what a wonderful boy he is.  I took a video of one of their songs, but will have to post it, once I switch printers and get it onto my computer, etc., etc.  In the meantime, here are the highlights.  Miss Karen did a great job with the kids!  Dylan and Ryan were so excited that they were able to sit next to each other during the entire program.

FALL FESTIVAL

October 22nd was our ward’s Fall Festival.  Dylan was so excited to get to wear his costume “for real” for the first time.  Avery, unfortunately, was a little under the weather and had to stay home with Daddy.

Dylan had such a good time running around with his best friend, Ryan.  They did a bean-bag-toss, went fishing, decorated cookies and lots of other “awesome” stuff!DSC_0001

Here’s a picture with Dylan, Ryan and Keegan.  They are all in the same class at Miss Karen’s Preschool.  What cute boys!DSC_0023

There was a pie-eating contest, and our primary class was represented well in both contests.  First up, the girls, Hallie and Kiersten.  Next, the boys, Caleb and Mitch.  The all did great!CSC_0024

We went on a hayride around the block, which was tons of fun!  When the truck actually started moving Dylan got really big eyes and said, “Mom, the truck is moving.”  I replied, “Yes, that’s the riding part of the hayride.”DSC_0022

Finally, three of the girls, Makenzie, Lizzie, and Kiersten dressed up as 50’s girls, and looked absolutely adorable.
