March Madness

So, March has finally brought some snow to Utah.  The kids were so excited and went outside, with Chloe, to have some fun.

Saturday, Nathan decided to build a track in the snow for his RC car.  He even invited Aaron Wells over to run his RC truck on the track as well.  Then, there was a snowball fight!  We are grateful to finally have some fun in the snow!

A Gentle Reminder

I was so excited to show Avery that I switched the background of my blog to giraffe print because she LOVES giraffes.  She looked at it said, “Oh.”  I don’t think she really sees the similarity to a giraffe.  Honestly, I don’t really either.  Anyhow, she then asked me to show her the previous posts and said, “You didn’t even do my Valentine’s picture,” with the saddest expression ever.  She’s right, I didn’t do her Valentine’s picture, so here it is.  I apologize to her, and everyone, that my blogging has been less than par.  I have also included a picture of Dylan’s Valentine’s gift.  He chose not to be in the picture.

February Book Club

This month we discussed ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.’  It was a good book, though based on the title I was hesitant to read it at first.  The book is written completely as letters between all of the characters.  It is amazing how the author was able to keep all of their voices so strong and distinct in each letter.  I do wish the story had been continued a little more, the book seemed to have more to offer.

So Funny, So True

A friend of mine posted this on her blog.  I thought it was so funny, I copied it to share with all of you!

***TAGGED***

The Rules:
1.Post these rules
2.You must post 11 random things about yourself
3.Answer the questions set for you in their post
4.Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer
5.Go to their blog and tell them you’ve tagged them ... You legitimately have to tag 11 people! (I'll tag as many as I can who have not already been tagged!)

11 Random things about myself:

11.  I had a tracheotomy when I was three after having been diagnosed with epiglottitis.

10. I watched reruns of ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ for much longer than I should have.

9. I am very much afraid of flying.

8. I am also very much afraid of earthquakes.

7. Last week I began taking piano lessons.

6. I am allergic to raisins, but not grapes.

5. I honestly miss having an annual pass to Disneyland and not being able to go whenever I want.

4. I am constantly amazed (and not in a good way) at how much it costs to see a doctor, even with health insurance.

3. I really don’t like cake or pie.  I prefer cookies or brownies.

2. Although I have been told you have to try it more than once, I have tried snow skiing once and hated it.

1. I love listening to my kids sing!

My answers for Catherine:

1. What is your dream job? Why?  To get paid a good amount of money and not have to do much…oh wait, I had that job already.  My dream would be to enjoy and appreciate the fact that my job right now is being a wife and mother.

2. Favorite TV show ever?  That’s a difficult one.  I would have to say NUM3ERS.  I am currently watching all of the seasons again and I still enjoy them.

3. Who are your top 3 favorite authors?  Karen White, Cassandra Clare and Suzanne Collins.

4. Describe your dream home location.  Location, location, location.  I would like to live in a more woodsy area, but still be like within 10 minutes of a major city.  I don’t know where that puts me.

5. Are you an early bird or a night owl?  Since having children, neither.  I used to be both at one time.

6. Tell me 2 things that fascinate you.  The inability of most people to properly operate a motor vehicle and that there is no test to pass or class to take for people to have children.

7. What is your biggest fear?  Drowning

8. Who is your hero and why?  My dad.  I’ve always wanted to be like him.  He possesses a lot of wonderful qualities I think most people lack.

9. Name 5 things you could not live without.  My family (both immediate and extended), sleep, microwaves (well, I probably could but rather not), shelter and I must admit, I do love chocolate!

10. What is your favorite color and also most hated color?  Black (though I’ve heard it isn’t really considered a color, but this is my answer and I consider it one), and most hated is pink.  I’m sorry, but it is just too perky a color and I generally don’t care for perky people either.

11. What super power would you most want to develop if accidentally bitten by a spider/fall in a vat of acid? :)  I would like to be able to read people’s minds, but honestly believe that once I had the power I probably wouldn’t like it much.

My 11 questions for others:

1.  What one person has most influenced your life?

2.  If you could repeat a year of your life, which would it be?  Why?

3.  Is your glass half full or half empty?

4. What is your favorite animal?  (Beware, when asked this on a psychological test, it apparently reveals a lot about you?)

5. What is one bad habit you would really like to kick?

6.  How many times have you moved?

7. Do you have a favorite saying, quote or words to live by?

8. Do you think what happens in Vegas should really stay in Vegas?

9. What is your favorite smell (i.e. a type of food being cooked/baked, a candle scent, etc.)?

10. What is your favorite number?  Why?

11. Which came first…the chicken or the egg?

Here’s What I Have Neglected to Blog About

Let it be known that just because I didn’t blog about our 7th anniversary exactly on January 14, it does not mean that I am not still completely in love with my husband.  He is still the man of my dreams.  I have just been really busy.

The kids were super excited that there was something else in our lives to celebrate and were surprised when I told them we weren’t going to have a cake and blow out candles for said celebration.  So, after a little bit of coercing, I baked a very simple cake and stuck a candle in it.  The kids were thrilled and Nathan and I just laughed.  Neither of us is a big fan of cake.

Avery has taken to wearing more of Dylan’s clothes that he has grown out of.  She was so excited that I bought him new church clothes and she would get to wear his old ones.  Luckily, she was understanding that she needed to be in a skirt and not dress pants for church.  Dylan was really excited about his new clothes and said he “felt more 6 in them.”

Nathan has found great joy in taking odd pictures of Avery.

Cotton Eye Joe

My kids make me giggle!  They love playing Just Dance on the Wii and one of there favorite songs is Cotton Eye Joe.
